Jellyfin is a free, open-source media server — a self-hosted alternative to Plex and Emby that streams your own movies, TV, music and photos to any device. There are no subscriptions, no fees, and no account to create; the software is free and open source under GPL-2.0.
Being fully self-hosted and community-run is the honest trade-off: there is no premium paywall and no central servers collecting your data, but you provide and manage your own server. Expect some initial setup for clients and transcoding, and know that you — not a company — are responsible for keeping it running.
