About Altapp — Who We Are & How We Stay Independent

When people go looking for an alternative app, they can find plenty of opinions — vote counts, star ratings, affiliate-ranked lists. What they can't find is the security information that actually matters at the moment of download: is this binary signed, does it phone home, what can it reach once installed? That information exists, but it lives scattered across scanners, registries and release notes that almost nobody reads. Altapp exists to close that gap — every app here carries a Trust Report built from the same checks, in the same order, with dates on everything.

We state, we don't score

Altapp produces no score and no grade of its own, because a single number hides the reasoning it was made from. We report how many of the nine checks we could independently verify, and that tally is never rolled into a rating. Each check reports what we found and when we found it. How the checks work is documented, in full, in our methodology.

Ratings that do appear on app pages — the 4.6 stars next to an App Store or G2 name — are carried over from that platform, clearly labelled with its source. Altapp does not collect or average them, and they never influence a Trust Report.

Independence and conflicts of interest

Altapp is operated by Roomanos Labs, based in TR. That same company also builds software of its own, and some of it is listed in this directory.

We think the honest way to handle that is to publish it rather than hide it, so:

Every first-party app carries a disclosure banner at the top of its page, generated from our own records — not written by hand, and not removable per-listing.
First-party apps run through the identical Trust Report pipeline, and failures are recorded the same way. Where a check does not pass, the report says so.
A first-party app is never given placement it did not earn — not in featured slots, not in shortlist order, not in comparison verdicts.
Any article that mentions one discloses the relationship in the article itself, near the mention rather than in a footer.

Verdicts are never for sale and placements are never for sale. If a placement is ever sponsored it will be labelled and kept visually separate from organic results. As of today Altapp carries no advertising, no affiliate links and no paid placements of any kind.

Corrections

Reports go out of date, and sometimes we simply get something wrong. When that happens we change the report and leave the date trail visible rather than quietly editing the page — the review date on every Trust Report and the “Updated” date on every article both move only when the content actually changes.

Found a claim that no longer holds? Email hello@altapp.store with the page and what changed. Every message is read. Corrections that change a verdict are credited to the person who reported them, if they want the credit.
