Verification reflects the version listed above. Practices may change between releases. How we verify ›

Our verdict: one of the most-starred open-source customer-support platforms and a genuine self-hostable alternative to Intercom and Zendesk — sound as long as you accept that some enterprise features and the managed cloud are separately licensed.

Chatwoot is an open-source customer engagement suite: a shared inbox that brings website live chat, email, WhatsApp and social channels (Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, SMS) into one view, alongside a help-center, canned responses, automation rules and reporting.

The Community Edition is MIT-licensed and can be self-hosted on your own infrastructure via Docker, Kubernetes or Heroku, so customer conversations stay on your server. Some enterprise features — SLA management, agent capacity, audit logs, custom dashboards — sit under the repo's enterprise/ directory under a separate commercial license, and a fully managed cloud is offered as a paid alternative.
